ALBAWABA – Nada ElKamel and Mr. Kurdi have been arrested in Cairo.
Nada ElKamel, the former wife of Egyptian actor Ahmed El-Fishawy, has been arrested alongside rapper Hussein Abu El-Maaty, known as “Mr. Kordiy,” in a drug-related investigation in Cairo.
The two were arrested inside a residential apartment in the Nasr City area after Egypt’s anti-narcotics authorities reportedly received information about suspected drugs at the location.
According to Egyptian media reports, a security force went to the apartment and arrested Nada ElKamel and Abu El-Maaty. A search of the property reportedly led to the seizure of approximately 100 grams of hydro, 10 grams of cocaine and several rolled cigarettes suspected of containing narcotic substances.
The seized materials have since become a central part of the investigation.
Egyptian authorities have not yet issued a final forensic determination confirming the exact nature of all the substances. Nasr City prosecutors ordered the seized materials to be sent to the chemical laboratory for examination and to establish whether they contain substances listed under Egypt’s narcotics laws.
The case began after information was reportedly received by the authorities concerning the presence of suspected narcotics inside the apartment.
Following the raid, the two were taken to the police station and a report was filed. Prosecutors then began investigating the circumstances surrounding the seizure and the alleged possession of the substances.
Some Egyptian reports have described the quantities as being held for the purpose of trafficking, while other reports have referred to suspected possession for use. At this stage, those allegations remain part of the investigation and have not resulted in a final conviction.
The prosecution has also ordered drug testing for both Nada ElKamel and Mr. Kordy. Their test results are expected to form part of the evidence being reviewed as investigators determine what happened inside the apartment.
Authorities have gone further by ordering the apartment to be sealed and placed under guard while the investigation continues. Investigators have also reportedly taken possession of the pair’s mobile phones and a laptop for examination, with the aim of determining whether their contents could provide information relevant to the case.
Mr. Kordy’s Previous Case
The investigation has also drawn attention to Abu El-Maaty’s previous legal history.
According to Egyptian media reports citing a criminal-record check, the rapper was previously the subject of a drug case and had received a final three-year prison sentence in connection with drug use. Reports said he was wanted for execution of that sentence when authorities discovered him during the latest operation.
The previous case is separate from the new investigation involving ElKamel and the substances allegedly found during the latest raid.
The new case has therefore taken on an additional dimension because of the rapper’s reported previous conviction. Authorities are now examining both the circumstances of the latest arrest and the legal status connected to his earlier sentence.
For Nada ElKamel, the investigation remains ongoing. She has not been convicted of the allegations arising from the latest incident.
The same applies to the new allegations against Abu El-Maaty. The prosecution is still waiting for the results of the laboratory analysis and drug tests, while investigators examine the seized electronic devices and other evidence.
The final nature of the substances, the circumstances of their possession and the responsibility of each person will be determined through the ongoing legal proceedings.
For now, the case remains an investigation rather than a final judgment, with Egyptian authorities continuing to gather evidence before deciding the next legal steps.
